Uniswap Labs Proposes Enabling Protocol Fees for v4 Pools

Uniswap Labs proposed on July 7 to extend protocol fees to Uniswap v4 pools, continuing the UNIfication fee plan previously approved by the DAO. A Snapshot vote will take place from July 7 to July 12, with on-chain voting expected to start the week of July 13. The hooks mechanism in v4 allows for unlimited fee tiers, and pool fees can vary block by block, introducing a new V4 Fee Controller system. The proposal aims to enable fees for three types of pools: static fee pools (without hooks), CCA auction pools, and aggregator hooks pools, with aggregator hooks subject to a maximum fee rate of 250 basis points (10 basis points for regular chains and 3 basis points for Base). Guillaume Lambert, founder of Panoptic, warned that enabling the v4 fee switch could kill the protocol, as liquidity providers already face structural risks, and taxing without compensation may lead LPs to migrate to other AMMs. Forum participant Abel189 supports the proposal, arguing that a deterministic on-chain fee strategy is more scalable than configuring fees individually.
